Vultures Bring It Home

What's that overhead?....It's a Vulture...It's a Vulture.

The final day of AUG 2010 has arrived and VU are well placed today with 6 teams vying for medals, 4 of them gold.

Day 4 saw more great performances notably Daniel Pagnocollo who added a Bronze Medal in the Long Jump to the Triple Jump Silver he picked up earlier in the week.

Our very own Vic the Vulture team mascot was also in action yesterday entertaining the crowd at a number of venues and putting the VU athletics team through their paces at the Perth's new international standard stadium. Vic performed admirably with personal best efforts in shot put, steeple chase and long jump before retiring for the day with a strained wing. Stay tuned to the VU Sport facebook page over coming days for footage of Vic in flight.

Good luck for finals day Vultures as we strive for Victory.

The Vultures Gearing Up!

Day 2 and 3 at the Australian Universities Games continued to produce great results for VU along with awesome weather for the fans.

Recapping some of the fantastic results…at the track, Alana Baldi has taken Bronze in the Hammer and Daniel Pagnocollo has taken Silver in the Triple Jump for the second consecutive year with a personal best jump of 14.47m [Ed: …and I’ve measured that out down the hotel corridor – it’s a long way].
Across the road at the Challenge Aquatic Centre Jaden O’Brien stunned the crowd with a technically perfect effort in the 50m Butterfly.
Around the corner at the UWA Sports-park, AFL men recorded another solid victory on Day 3 with a 54 to 39 win over Murdoch U and the AFL women continue to amaze us all chalking up victory after victory and positioning themselves as favourites for the Gold Medal game later this week.
Up the road at Lord’s Sport Centre the Netball competition has been pumping. VU Women are undefeated to date and yesterday our VU Mixed team totally outclassed the local favourites 54:18 in an awesome display of fast netball.
Up at the beach at Scarborough and down by the Swan River in the city VU Beach Volleyball and VU Touch have now all recorded victories. Rumour has it that Paris Hilton may have been a new recruit for the VU Touch team Day 4…but as yet these rumours are yet to be confirmed.
Volleyball men have fought excellent games with both wins and close losses to high calibre opposition. The focus of the team has been commendable… not even the emergency evacuation called part-way through yesterday’s afternoon game could break their concentration.
Back at the beautiful glassed walled WA Basketball Complex… the Men's and Women's team continue to look good. Both are positioned towards the top of their draw and are well positioned as we come in finals today and tomorrow.

Good luck Vultures on Day 4… Go for the Gold!
