VULTURES TOUCHDOWN ON THE GOLD COAST

Sunday 25 September - Gold Coast, Australia - The VU Vultures have been flocking across the weekend, shaking out their feathers and sharpening their claws in readiness for the major Australian University Sport event of the 2011 calendar.

6400 student athletes from 41 Universities have gathered here on the Gold Coast for the week long 30 sport event. With University pride on the line, competition is sure to be fierce with some performances likely to produce international qualifiers and spark the interest of elite league scouts.

VU is fast stamping is impressive Vulture claw as the premier Australian University for the knowledge transfer of all sport related matters from the introduction of sport and recreation at vocational education level through to higher education, applied exercise science research and industry leadership.

The same focus on sporting excellence follows through the quality of performance of the VU Vultures team. VU, a smaller University when compared to older rivals has a tradition of preforming above expectation. This year 184 VU student –athletes, with many state, national elite league athletes amongst them, will take part in 15 sports, defending 4 titles from 2010.

The AUG opens tonight at DreamWorld. Athletes and officials alike will be entertained by a long list of talent including the Bag Raiders.
